  Our Philosophy
The emphasis at our week-long tournament is on encouraging players, management and supporters to have a great holiday and at the same time be part of an enjoyable sporting event, rather than on "all-out" competition.

There is no overall winner at the Canterbury Gold Coast Netball Carnival - although one deserving group each year is presented with the coveted "Spirit Award", decided on a vote of all participants: schools, clubs, referees and organisers.

In addition, at the end of the Carnival, one player from each team is nominated by the player's team management to receive a speciallty designed souvenir Canterbury dress jersey. The "Outstanding Team Member" award may be given to the best player, the most improved, the best fund raiser. the player who contributed most to the overall enjoyment of the tour, etc.

The objectives of the week are simply to:

provide an opportunity for young players to experience netball culture outside their school, club, region, state & country

provide an opportunity to improve playing & coaching standards

enjoy a truly multi-cultural experience where, through netball, the teams are able to cross cultural & social barriers

encourage pro-active involvement in sports that build positive self esteem & image

enjoy a holiday on Australia's Gold Coast - one of the world's premier holiday destinations.

The unique philosophy, format and focus of this event helps to build the skills of players, improve the standards of coaching, and generally enhance the sheer fun of playing - which is what it should be all about at this participation level.

Supporters are also welcome at the tournament and associated events.
