  2008 Canterbury Rugby Carnival Programme
 

Tour packages will be designed to suit your requirements, however here's a rundown for the 2008 Canterbury Gold Coast Rugby Carnival (July 5-12):

Saturday 4th July
The majority of teams arrive. Teams are met by a Carnival Official who will ensure every need is met. All transport arrangements will of course have been made prior to arrival.

Sunday 5th July
The Palm Beach Currumbin Tens Festival  (PBCTF) will be held at on the Gold Coast at the home of the Palm Beach Currumbin Rugby Union Club.  The Tens Festival presents an opportunity for teams to stretch their legs and to acclimatise to the conditions before the week long 15 aside event.  In addition, the very popular Tens format gives players a greater chance to show off their individual skills. Matches at this stage are scheduled to commence at 9.00am with the presentations to take place at 4.00 pm. Separate registration is required.

Monday 6th July
Free Day

Compulsory Team Managers' meeting to ensure everyone has the latest information on match draws, transport arrangements. U19 Australian Law Variations etc.

Tuesday 7th July
CGCRC Match Day One
All matches will be played at The Southport School.

First day matches usually commence around 9.00 am. The Official 2008 Carnival Opening will take place at 12.30 pm on the main field (shown below).

Wednesday 8th July
Free day to visit one of the three major theme parks, Dreamworld, MovieWorld or SeaWorld, or to play golf, surf, sun, train or whatever!

Thursday 9th July
CGCRC Match Day Two

at TSS commencing around 9.00am

Friday 10th July
Free day - ideal day to visit "Wet & Wild" to alleviate a little soreness and relax.

7.00 pm - Spirit & Sportsmanship Dinner in the Conrad Jupiters Ballroom(Optional)

Rugby and netball teams from different countries back up the special guest speakers in providing entertainment. The dinner is not compulsory but is an integral part of the Carnival and contributes significantly towards its ethos.

Saturday 11th July
CGCRC Match Day Three

Final day's play followed by farewell and trophy presentations including the "Spirit of Rugby" Award and selection of the 2008 GCRC Barbarians.

Sunday 12th July
Teams depart. Optional add-on tours to other Australian cities can be arranged if required.
