Brief
summary of the 2007 event
Despite the disappointment
of having so few local teams participate in the annual Tens
day, the event was a great success with all teams enjoying
the wonderful Sunshine and the freedom offered by the 10 man
rugby format. Everywhere one looked there were tries
being scored and hakas being performed. I often wonder
what the rugby world would do without the Kiwis and their
passion for the game. They simply can't get enough rugby.
The trend we often see in Australia is one in which teams
are afraid to enter events like the SCTF for fear of injury
and these injuries reducing the chances of a local premiership
flag. Unfortunately, this attitude denies our buddding
rugby players of the opportunity to play rugby purely for
enjoyment and to see why the game's international flavour
and code of ethics resulting from its proud amateur beginnings
really do make our game different.
Thanks to Reporoa College (NZ) and
Aranmore catholic College (WA) for providing extra teams on
the day after the draw was thrown into initial chaos by a
couple of local teams that failed to show. Thanks also
to team managers for their promptness in having their teams
start each match on time and for getting the match results
into admin as quickly as they did.

The Sunshine Coast
is a beautiful part of Queensland and it is hoped that all
who opted to spend a day or two there enjoyed the experience
as well as the rugby.
